Re: 1/700 HMS Icarus D03 Minelayer 1940
I can't help with a overhead photo showing Icarus with her mine rails, but I do have a Wright & Logan photo of Impulsive in 38 with what appears to be her full compliment of mines showing 30 on her starboard side from abreast of the 2nd funnel to her minelaying sponsons aft.
Edgar J. March roughly states in his Book on British Destroyers that when Impulsive converted to minelaying, she landed her number (1 ) and number (4) 4.7 guns and mountings, Ready Use lockers, both sets of torpedo tubes, torpedoes, stores and all T.S.D.S gear to accommodate 60 mines and 30 depth charges.
I am converting the 1/700 IBG kit Ithuriel into the Icarus as a minelayer, during the Narvik campaign. Are there any good photos out there where the mine rails would be located on her deck? Any help would be much appreciated!
