His confidence was amazing. How many times I have opened a kit box and said “ah s**t”. Three sheets of photo-etch of critical parts, 10 pages of instructions which are not always clear, painting instructions off the deep end, poor fits and poorly molded parts. I have defeated myself before I start. The kit then becomes work not enjoyment.
I noticed he structured his build. Cutting away parts and placing them on tape board for painting purposes and to add more detail. When he needed them he went to the tape board and merely positioned them into place. I would be terrified of losing the pieces.
Needle nose tweezers which he held with steady hand and close to point. The incredibly sharp flat knives he was using to cut plastic card stock. His many use of other tools and brushes was impressive.
What struck me odd was he did full hull and weathered it to perfection and displayed waterline.
Love to get a hold of those 1/700 flight deck crew.
