I can't say that any film influenced me into thing nautical.
I was as a youth generally interested in the sea and ships through holiday on the coast and then some history. This continued during school so that I very nearly was RN, but apparent 18/20 vision was not enough to qualify although I passed all entry exams. Could have become 'secretarial branch' but my interest was navigation which is a deck officer and no spectacles were allowed. So ended up studying Physics!
Modelling was then a sideline, now a bit more.
The Film industry has changed dramatically in the last 20/40 years, content does not seem so important any more and historical accuracy even less.
It's just my opinion
