I should have added that I have gone through both the publisher and self published book route (on demand). Book publishers aren't like they used to be ten years ago. I take the ideas to publishers. If a publisher picks up on it by the time I am finished, problem solved. If no one takes it, I just say FIDO and do it myself. My last book (not on ships) was through a publisher and sold a couple hundred thousand copies.

Do to the nature of the material, the book needs to have a large format (wider than tall). I have yet to see an on demand printer that does larger than 8 1/2x11.

I have a friend who runs a small publishing house (about 6 books a year—but totally unrelated to ships) who has been helping to line up resources in case a publisher does not step up.
