I just saw the movie "The Final countdown" and was wondering when in the scene were the commander who is a historian, confronts the Japanese pilot who has the woman as hostage mentions the Japanese secrets about the attack on pearl harbor.
A side note: my friend,a lieutenant was reporting aboard Nimitz for duty as Surface Warfare Officer in Norfork as the actors were leaving.
As a matter of fact, when we were watching the promo film aboard the Intrepid, he recognized all the Officers aboard and even saw himself.
Unfortunately he passed in 2013.


My question to all of you is this, what the commander was telling the pilot, was it accurate when he was speaking Japanese and or telling the pilot everything that was going to happen in English correct? Meaning the names of all the IJN carriers and the codes?
