If you go to the first Pinterest link from Phil, about 3 lines down on the left is a photo of Texas being overflown by two P-51s. Note that Texas has no catapult on the midships main battery turret. For the D-day landing she had the catapult removed and stored in Belfast, probably to reduce top weight in case she was damaged. The planners felt that the scout planes could not survive the expected Luftwaffe presence over the beaches and had P-51 pilots trained as spotters (or spotters checked out in the P-51) for the occasion. This might be why the photo was taken. The catapult was reinstalled later.
