Perhaps this may be a lower cost option. Recently Revell Monogram re released the ex Renwal 1/500 scale USS Springfield. Just to be accurate, this ship is in the guided missile conversion rig, but Renwal got it so wrong it is easier to convert it back to a WWWII era Cleveland class ship than to make an accurate missile ship out of it. You will need two kits so you can get two extra six inch turrets. You will also have to get a short piece of approx one inch diameter dowel rod for the barbette for X turret. Approx $20 per kit, you can search on E Bay. I think also Model Monkey makes replacement six inch turrets so this is another option. And yes, these ships are square bridge.

Hello. I had a fellow face book group member tell me that several of your advertisers listen to modelers need. I now they can't all be done but glad someone listens. I am part of a WW2 US Navy model group that most of our members had relatives that served during WW2. My father was on the cl-103 USS Wilkes-Barre. Several of our members were on late Cleveland class square bridge ships and would like to build those ships in 1/350 in our Dads memories. I have tried to find one but can only find it in full resin and because some of us [ myself included ] are on fixed incomes. I did buy the Very Fire plastic Birmingham kit but it's still a round bridge. tried model monkey at shapeways but no conversion for that kit but he even said it will not work w/o a ton of work. We were wondering if either [ Very Fife or Black Cat Models ] might consider a conversion set for the Very Fire 1/350 Birmingham to make it a square bridge kit. I used to scratch build but diabetes has caused sight issues. Anyway thanks for the outlet and please keep up the great work , stay safe and have a Fanplastic new year.
