USS McCawley (APA-4) would be wood over steel.
Completed in 1928 as the passenger steamer SS Santa Barbara at Furness Shipbuilding Co., Haverton Hill-on-Tees, England.

I am in the process of scratch building these two transports. My question is did they have wooden decks or were they steel? They were both sunk mid 1943 in the Guadalcanal area.
