Agreed. That's why its important for colorization to be done correctly, with actual verifiable color samples to use. Civil War uniforms? Plenty of those still around to use as color samples. 1840s clothing and paint? Hmmm... Maybe, maybe not. The colorization is only as accurate as the presumed color choices that the colorizer chooses, and whether there are real samples to back those choices up and even then that's assuming that the thing being colorized actually was that color. USS Arizona, anyone?

Just wait til you have good information from reliable and verifiable sources about what colour something was then have someone try to argue with you using a colorized photograph that shows something else. Argh... Previous Message
...how things actually looked? Some of the authentic color photography from the Great War is absolutely outstanding and awesome. Well done colorized versions are an attempt to show us what the world looked like over a century ago. As long as its done well, why shouldn't we welcome it? Previous Message

The current classic Warships web page list a new book "German Battleships 1909-1919". I know this book has been a labor of love for Steve. He has spent a great deal of time colorizing several photographs for the book. Hopefully publication details will follow. My check is already in the mail.
