I have built this kit twice. It is fine and goes together very well. I agree that areas of the kit are over complicated, namely the small AA guns. They are also a bit overcalled. The overall kit though is very good. It was produced at the time using new methods of slip moulding which allowed them to produce a two piece hull and one peace funnels that were hollow.

As the Trumpeter kit hasn't ben seen yet it's not possible to compare. Their new Bismarck is brilliant. It might work out cheaper to fit out your Dragon kit with third party AA guns if you can't build them.
