This review: http://www.modellmarine.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5202:2018-04-18-05-11-41&catid=69:tru makes the Trumpeter version marginally better (it also has some PE, but not enough for a complete build). If it's important, Trumpeter's is 1939; and Aoshima's is 1941.

Which Aoshima Ark Royal are you referring to? Aoshima has released several. I have #010181 / WL 714 (new tool from 2015) and it's not that bad! Although, like most 1/700 ships, it would benefit from AM!

My Aoshmia Ark Royal kit is 010228, HMS Ark Royal Final Ver. and U-81. It included a PE de-gaussing cable for Ark Royal and PE parts for U-81.
