The completed examples I've looked at are pretty mint paint jobs. Doing a little more research it seems the color demarcation line is the top of the stacks. I will check out the website before I proceed.

...although there are few that show her at that point. Some of the best shots taken in the war--and they are fairly rare--are at the usshouston.org website.
Most are from mid-February '42 around the time of the Timor Relief Convoy.
They give a good idea of her hull weathering, etc.
But, I must say I'm not aware of any models yet built that are especially convincing as regards her wartime color scheme, or the wear & tear on her hull.

I'm at the painting stage of the Houston as she would have appeared the beginning of 1942. I've looked at several completed models on the various web sites and have seen different paint jobs. The hull and lower section is Cavite Blue but there are differences about how far that goes up the bridge works. Several just start at the base of the mast but one has the whole bridge light grey. Any thoughts on which one is right? Also is the light grey paint a specific shade or was it just what ever they had hanging around. Thanks and happy thanksgiving.
