Re: LCS returns to port
is it the pump jets the real problem not the engines themselves?
What is interesting is that CODAG propulsion systems have been in use in both civilian and military ships in other navies for years, while only ours seem to have problems. The Fort Worth casualty was caused by the crew themselves, and an article I read on that seemed to blame the Navy for introducing unfamiliar newfangled technology to engineering departments comfortable with different, more familiar systems. So, the moral of that is...let's not do anything new... (Or, is it...our sailors are too dumb to learn new things? This I seriously doubt!)
Still, Fort Worth was the only one of these casualties which was self-inflicted. The rest appear to be a poor design. The moral of THAT would then be...our shipyards are too dumb to design new things...?? (And as I started this post...this isn't really a new thing. CODAG does fine elsewhere.)
In the words of Beatty..."There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today!"
