There is a larger replication of this image in "Pictorial Records of the B.C.F. August, 1914-December, 1916" It measures about 6.5 inches by 9 inches. There were at least 2 others taken either shortly before or after that image...there are noticeable changes in both the wake and funnel smoke.
This photo was printed in Marder’s Jutland volume, and he attributed it to the Beatty collection. I met Marder about a year before he died, and we had an invigorating chat about acquiring naval photographs. He very carefully selected the ones which went into his books.
This photo is a gem, and it is, alas, the best reference for the state of Lion on 31 May 1916. It’s a pity it is not a razor sharp print like the one in Marder’s book.
