Re: 1/700 Amro models
I have their Dupuy de Lome and their HMS Monarch. Both had major accuracy issues. Dupuy the Lome seems to have been based on well know paper kit of that ship and shares that kits problems, ie inaccurate midship shape and fictional deck planking. Monarch has a non existing poop and wrong superstructure and foc'sle shape. And 1 scale meter wide deck planking. The only accurate parts are the turrets which I will use if I ever have time to scratchbuild her. For both ship accurate references are easily available online or in book form (Parkes and Friedman for Monarch) so I fail to understand why they did not use them. I can not recommend these kits. If you really have to have a model of these ships they are relatively easy scratchbuld subjects as the hulls have almost no sheer. Otherwise wait for Kombrig or Ostrich to release them as they seem to be in a healthy minor competition for late 19th century subjects.
Has anyone done one of their kits? I was able to find they are Jade models and am interested in their French battleships but I'd like a kit, I don't have to do a lot of surgery on. Help!
