It seems we need some metrics
“First really accurate,” as we have seen, is a term subject to wide variation based on personal opinion. We might as well argue over the “best-looking car” or “best breakfast” (for which I nominate the “Eggs In The Red” by Singletree Diner in Healdsburg, eggs covered with a housemade chili. Ambrosia, indeed!).
Therefore, objectively applied requirements seem necessary. Candidates for most realistic injected plastic steel warship might be required to have-
Full hull (stand by for screams of agony from the 1/700 team)
Steel subjects (the excellent big Revell sailing ships of the 60’s are disqualified)
Let the blood flow!
Lindberg got somewhat close, no cigar.
Revell's 1/426 (?) Arizona is accurate but for the "pill box" 5" casemate guns. The Yorktown isn't bad. The 1/72 PT 109 isn't too bad.
I'd give the award to Tamiya for coming out with the 1/350 battleships some years past.
