Re: Aoshima's HMS Exeter - Build Pics
And Happy Birthday!
Thanks! I used the PE setís wood stick on deck.
For the hull color I used AK Interactive 1016 metal primer. I just loved the color. Incidentally the color is actually darker than it appears in the pictures.
Very nicely done! I'm about to start the kit and typically build OTB with some 3D parts for armament as you have done. I intend to paint the hull and decks in a "batch" approach and then pick out details to highlight details such as hatch and gun shield details, etc. With that in hand what are the basic hull gray and deck tan paints you used?
TIA Steve G.
As a follow up to my post below:
Here are some promised build photos of the Aoshima HMS Exeter. I cannot vouch for the accuracy, but it builds up very nicely. I added PE bits from the Aoshima HMS Exeter set. The pom poms are from 3D Models. The Walrus is from the Flyhawk RN WW2 set 2 (could not resist seeing how it built). The Walrus is not in camo as there are many pics of the Walrus Exeter carried in the far East being painted silver in 1941:
