Re: Marx Cavalry Figures
Look great! Thanks.
Hope this works. The mounted figures are Waterloo 1815. I have some unpainted Marx mounted figures but I have yet to paint them.
Would love to see photos of the Cavalry figures.
It's a long story that began with my reflections on a childhood friend who passed a few years ago. I had vague memory of playing with 1/72 cavalry, cowboy and Indians in his basement. He had a Marx fort Apache set with the painted figures which in 1966, I thought were totally cool.
A few years ago I wondered about his set and decided to check Ebay to see if it actually existed. There I found the figures selling for huge prices. The paint jobs were terrible but I found a set of of unpainted standing cavalry figures for a very reasonable price. As soon as they arrived I started painting. Even though I had bought a book with illustrations of the period uniforms, I used the old Marx figures and John Ford/John Wayne movies for reference.
They came out real sweet but to really relive my childhood, I needed some Indians to put in the cabinet with them. They are very difficult to paint because there are no uniforms and each figure must be unique.
Any rate, those have been on my desk for a few months now and once completed will be cleared for a 1/700 kit more appropriate to this board.
