PT-8 was a one of a kind experimental model.
It was all aluminum.
It was rejected as too heavy compared to the wooden boats.
Also aluminum was prioritized for aircraft production.
Yep. Good question, especially for a mass produced rush order! Although it would likely be aluminum decked, not mahogany, like one of the PT-8's was. I read that it was like an oven belowdecks when in the sun and too hot to touch.
Wonder if we can do the same today?
