This is PT 152 with a (mostly) beautifully smooth deck. As Al Ross once pointed out, Elco was a pre-war yacht builder and the quality of their work showed in their PT's. If there had been some kind of covering, the edges of damaged planks would show some kind of peeling of it and not just clean breaks:

Yep, although even in closeups it is usually hard to tell. This is PT 149:
So if it was between the layers that means the top layer is the planking.
