Re: Eye-witness accounts...
I went to high school in the early 70's and I could not tell you for sure the color of the interior walls or the lockers even after being there for four years so I would not expect someone to remember for sure from 1941.
I couldn't find a single source on the subject. But there is an entire school of thought am-ongst law enforcement- that disagrees with the use of eyewitness accounts as infallible in reliability
In moments of high stress the human mind is concentrating at accomplishing the primary task at hand and oneís memory fills in surrounding detail afterward. Was it not recent these last few years that it was learned that turret tops were painted ? I donít agree in discarding first hand wittinesses. Much of their recollections can be misinterpreted or thought to conflict merely on how a question is phrased or rephrased. I believe 5D was at Pearl as well as blues. I think I will stick with the multiple accounts of blue for AZ but only in partial dress for many reasons other than the 1st hand accounts.
... who when asked about the color, went over to a paint rack in Jamesís shop and picked out a bottle of MM Aircraft Interior Black?
