Re: Annealing Brass Photo-etch
I once formed workable hinges for 1/35 armor - never again! I use a butane lighter safely holding the brass piece with tweezers or forceps. When it gets nice and red (and malleable) it's time to carefully roll it into shape. Most PE is too thick a gauge to completely curve, un-annealed, without kinking it. You could also substitute aluminum foil pie-plate/cookie-sheet material as it is much softer than brass. Annealing is not necessary for folding brass PE.
I don't see any reason to anneal. It's not like the brass is too hard that it can't be bent.
How many of you anneal your photo-etch brass sheets before bending, and what process have you found works best?
