The story that the bomb that killed Arizona went down the stack. Always seemed suspect to me but First National Bank of Arizona insisted in they're memorial booklet that that was the truth. Oh, I built my first 425th Arizona in about an hour and a half at the age of 7. Nearly made my dear old dad weepy.
I'll start off- When I was a kid and first read about the loss of the 'Hood,' a phrase used was that a shell from the Bismarck 'found a chink' in the Hood's armor. When I first read that, I thought they meant there was a actual crack in the ship's armor, and wondered why they simply didn't fix it.
