The first time I was watching the news w/Pop, I heard the word "Watergate" Many times........I always thought it was a gate that held water, & it was in Big Trouble!!
I thought U-boats were shaped...like a U.
The term "Ceasefire".
When I was just a kid and the fighting in Vietnam ceased it was declared a Ceasefire.
I thought that the sea around Vietnam had caught fire.
I'll start off- When I was a kid and first read about the loss of the 'Hood,' a phrase used was that a shell from the Bismarck 'found a chink' in the Hood's armor. When I first read that, I thought they meant there was a actual crack in the ship's armor, and wondered why they simply didn't fix it.
