Steel Navy is a site that is for ship modellers and Mike Ashey is a very talented and well respected ship modeller. His practices, processes and hints to scale ship modelling in particular dealing with etch and resin have been a great help to me and I would expect many others over the years. He is regularly featured in Fine Scale Modeller (well, was anyway) and is published else where.
And yet, he never posts here.
Thanks for posting the video but I don't think you or anybody else should publicly make fun of him. By making an effort he's offering a point of view and that's all.
Where are all the Steel Navy commodores who know the REAL colour but are jealously guarding this so important secret that the masses are never to really know?
Or is it the money? You know the dilligent researchers here who have spent decades pouring over the NARA files and photos, struck gold, but hey! I'm not sharing it with the online plebs unless there's some cash in it for me.
Before anyone starts calling Mike Ashey a rabbit, what's your story?
I really, really, really don't think the color difference between either dark blue or dark grey of a battle fleet that had the crap knocked out of it at anchor should be a most important issue.
Is there a wide and ongoing dispute over the color of the Italian fleet at Taranto?
WOW! Does he really believe he's got it all figured out? OMG!
