The IJN had concentrated most of the fleet in Kure - and was immobilized by the lack of oil. Most of the larger Japanese ships were sunk or heavily damaged - in an attack, which is described also as a revenge for Pearl Harbor.

Nick thinks that the camouflage pattern of Bennington in July was likely different from the model, because she was probably re-painted during repair of the damage caused by a typhoon in June.
