You may want to consider donating
You may consider donating to libraries, fire houses, police stations, museums, community centers, VFW posts, recruiting stations, hobby stores, etc. I doubt there would be a tax write off value or resale value. Built models do not ship well.
Museum quality builds or collections can be donated. I heard a story of one man who had a model of every USN hull put into the water since its birth. The size of the collection nearly destroyed him. He offered the collection to the Smithsonian and even they would only take a portion of it. I personally considered buying built ships until I came across a built U.S.S. Atlanta of 1942 with 40mm quad mounts. I passed on the purchase.
Donating for public view keeps our hobby and the historical legacy of the ship and the men who served aboard alive IMHO.
I am interested in selling a large number of 700 scale WW2 ships I built and painted over the years. I stopped building them 35 years ago. About 15 battleships and carriers and maybe 50 others. Is there a market for them? Any ideas? I couldn’t see any offerings on the Internet. I have a number of unbuilt ones also. Chicago suburb location.
