IT IS WHAT PUT ME OFF COMPETITIONS IN THE 1970S a "detailed" model using commercial "details" would win over an accurately modified model that did not have the INCORRECT "details"!!
At the National show, we really don't get to judge on historical or technical accuracy. You can paint it pink and put Talos missiles on your Arizona and we don't get to take off points for that.
... and donít know what they are looking at and canít take time to verify them.
As to why a company might produce inaccurate details, it boils down to (1) poor research plus (2) more details impress non-knowledgeable modelers. More = better.
