Re: Hobbyboss Golf Submarine : could it be modified as the Soviet version ?
Thank you for your response. I am interested by the Golf 2 conversion (the one sunk in 1968). However, I wonder is the HB Golf is closer the Golf 1 than the Golf 2 ? I have two russian books about Soviet subs, one about the SLBM subs and the other about the other subs, both with drawings in 1/400 scale. Are your drawings more precise ?
All the Best,
Yes, with a bit of work. As you mentioned the Chinese Golf I was modified to accommodate the larger Chinese SLBMs being tested. I have large plansets for both the Russian Golf I and Golf II. I also have the HB Chinese Golf, so I will compare the two. If you would like, contact me for further info at
Do you want to make a Golf I Ora Golf II? The sails are slightly different. Another option is the resin version of the Golf I and Golf II available from a Russian source, You can see a build I did of the kit at the link below.
Golf II submarine
I've ordered the new Hobbyboss Golf Submarine in 1/350 scale.
However, it is the Chinese version depicted in tne kit ; so, I wonder if there are many differences with the Soviet version (except the three launch tubes).
Could this kit be easily modified into the russian sub version ?
Thanks for the info,
