My father (RCNVR V40389) was on HMCS Annapolis (ex USS Mackenzie) with Western Local Escort Force. They had bunks whereas RN/RCN ships had hammocks. The 4 stackers would roll in wet grass so hammocks were definitely more desirable.
The condensers were always fouling so the Chief
ERA would always get roaring drunk whenever they put into port.
OK, so how many people here would ever have liked to have crewed on board a WICKES/CLEMSON class Destroyer?
Must have been quite a challenge!
