Re: Fujimi HMS Ark Royal
Thank you all!
Thanks for your reply . I did build both of these kits and there were differences. Back then the waterline series introduced the differences between ships in common scale.
The Eagle and Ark Royal kits are not identical, although they share many common parts; the flight deck, port side sponsons and mast arrangements differ. The Ark Royal kit represents the ship with side lift and lattice mast.
Your kit of the HMS Eagle is of 1955 to 1957. In 1956 in this configuration the Eagle was part of the British and French forces involvned in the Suez Crisis of 1956.
Where the carrier launched air strikes after the nationlization of the Suez Canal by Egypt. Both Ark Royal and Eagle were produced by Fujimi were the same kit as part of the 1/700 waterline series agreed to by Tamiya, ,Fujimi,Aoshima and Hasegawa in the 1970's.
For that time peroid(Suez Crisis) the aircraft provided are wrong. White Ensign Models use to produced alot of 1/700 resin aircraft that
could be used . But I don't know today.
In the Suez Crisis the Eagle operated Seahawks,Skyraiders,Wyerns and Sea Venoms.
I found this, you might be interested:
Fujimi HMS Eagle
I know this is an old kit, but can someone suggest the era depicted by the model, and what would have been a typical air group for that time.
