I think the terrorist protection with the .50s may have been going on for a while. A Canadian FFG, visited Cleveland, Ohio and there was a small boat mounting a a .50 close to the FFG in about 2007.
That is interesting. It appears that the .50's on the bow and stern sections are manned while entering a friendly port. Is that the new normal? Thank you sir for posting these pictures.

In 2015, she got an extra stack. Is that for the auxiliary diesel for power generation?
