There is a certain point where people just want to rebuild. America's "WWII Generation" grew up with a Great Depression and a World War. My father was of the Great Depression. The tales of that time's hardship of no money and famine was as chilling as war. There were single room "Shanty Barges" on the Saginaw River were people lived all during the 30s up to about '44. They drank the water from the Saginaw river and always played with a disease outbreak. Poverty is hard.
I love warships and models. But I'm into economics. From a productivity point of view an economy is better off having workers fill potholes and using sickles to cut road side grass than building weapons of war. Why? There is no productivity to the economy from a military; Ancient Rome at least used the Army to build roads and their navy functioned as a coast guard.
Present days you've got to have a military. It's necessary. The issue is to avoid being like the Soviet Union where you have military with nation than rather having a nation with a military.
I'm willing to bet with the Great Depression of 2020 here that the days of the giant US Navy will be gone inside of 5 years. Mothball sales will be good, so to speak.
Back to my build of the Repulse and Ark Royal.
