Typical Dragon planning (or lack of!). They could have done like Tamiya and made partial holes from the rear for various version parts, and stated in instructions to "open hole A for part X", etc.
Thank you Rick. Going to be hard to fill them in now that the deck is painted and installed. Wished Dragon would have said "fill" these unused holes in their instructions, but then again their instructions sheets are a puzzle in their own right.
The short answer is, yes DML uses the same deck for multiple versions of the BENSON-GLEAVES class kits, not just BENSON 1940 and 1945 kits. The K-Guns weren't available when USS BENSON was completed, so they aren't needed. There could be other items that the holes would be used for as well.
I am in the progress of working on this model. I have the main deck attached and painted along with the anti skid decals in place. I am now attaching the deck houses and smaller stuff. I noticed some remaining mounting holes in the deck next to the aft deckhouse. The instructions do not show any additional parts for them. My question is.... does Dragon use the same aft main deck for their 1945 version? I am assuming these mounting holes are for the depth charge racks for the 1945 version. Thanks.
