Re: 1/96 Scale Drawing of Gun tub on Fletcher
You are correct, after reading your post I reviewed my drawings and photos and there 3 20 mm guns in the aft tub. Thanks again. I did manage to add the ladder to the forward stack and did some detailing on the torpedo tubes.
I'm a little confused by your response. USS KIDD from when she was completed at NYNY until she went in for an overhaul in early 1945, had three twin 40-mm mounts and ten single 20-mm guns - three in front of the bridge, two on each side amidships on the main deck, and three on the fantail, plus two torpedo tube banks. After the early 1945 overhaul, she had five twin 40-mm mounts, with two of those mounts replacing the forward 20-mm guns. After being hit by a Kamikaze, she was upgraded to the Anti-Kamikaze Mod, with two quad 40-mm mounts replacing the midships twin 40-mm mounts and the forward torpedo tubes bank. Also, the seven single 20-mm guns were replaced by six twin 20-mm gun mounts, one for one, except on the fantail where two twins replaced three single 20-mm guns.
At no point did USS KIDD have ONLY two single 20-mm guns on the fantail.
Thanks Rick! Exactly what I needed. From my book on the Kidd, Iím sure she only had the 2-20 mm guns aft and I knew about the raised deck, which will be glued to the access hatch for the rudder.
I will post on Facebook when added and try to post here.
