Reflected sunlite can be misleading. Look how bright the turret top are.
I do also think painting the deck after she'd sunk is very unlikely...Just my two cents.....
Aerials taken shortly after the attack show her decks as light.
These images are of USS California as she lays on the bottom of Pearl Harbor in March of 1942. The interesting thing about these images is that her decks are painted. Now the question is, were they painted before or after she sank?
We know for a fact that Nevada and Tennessee's decks were painted before the attack. Now we have to ask if at least California's decks were also painted.
