One nice thing about modeling is you get to understand the ship. Until building the British Battlecruisers I never understood how those ships were closer to cruisers than battleships. A BC has thin lines, like a runner. A BB is thick, like a lineman from the NFL.
I've read tales that the Iowa class was only good for 31 knots flat out. They were not as fast as advertised. Bismarck was fast but only 30 knots at max. Ergo, There was no real true fast battleship.
There is protection, firepower, and speed in a battleship. You get two of the three.
