It was dated when it was new
Bert Kinsey, in his Detail & Scale book, called the 1:400 scale kit by Otaki the best larger scale modern Enterprise. Better than the Tamiya and the third place Aurora kit.
Manufacturer labels have changed. Otaki is now ARII. Aurora was Monogram, was Revell (USA), was Revell AG, and is now the new Revell (no USA, no AG). Now plain Revell, though a German company.
Same old plastic with new PE. Lipstick on a pig. Last Platinum kit I looked at came with an ill fitting, warped, unfinished, knotty pine piece of wood as a base. Alternate market PE was better. A big-box store piece of oak, even a plaque of pine from Michaels was better.
Hey guys About the Enterprise kit from Revell Germany. This will be a deluxe kit with alot of PE.Over on IPMS Deutschland(Germany) they gave alot of photo coverage on the new releases.
Look for some guys last name of Yokes in the photo section under Neu (New).
That's what I was afraid of, thanks
No is the answer to your questions. Same old warmed over Aurora kit with the newly tooled aircraft that Monogram added in the '80s and the nicer Decal sheet Revell added in the 2007 release.
I will pick one up in the hopes the P.E. might work on the Arii kit. Got to be better than trying to fit 1/350 PE to the Arii kit, although it had been done with amazing results by modelers better than I (not saying much...)
