Re: CVN-81 to be named USS DORIS MILLER
As a retired US Navy CPO I heartly agree that this recognition Of Millers outstanding performance under enemy fire is totally worthy of this belated Honor. When I entered the Navy in 1962 in FL. where Jim Crow was in effect I witnessed over a decade within the US Navy of discrimination not only againest Blacks but hispanics and Phillipino service members. Gradually we saw this chage for a much better Navy for all hands. Miller gave his life for his ship and shipmates leter dying when assigned to another ship. You may think this is PC I believe it is well overdue.
