The Montpelier memoir "Pacific War Diary" is one of my favorites.
First build of this kit will almost for sure be USS Montpelier , CL-57, third ship of the class.
Quite some years ago, Lee Grose, founding member and for a time, Pres. of the local IPMS chapter, spoke of spending some of his youth in CL-57 during her "very interesting times," on the other side of the world.
Lee was a big, tall, strapping, jovial, knowledgeable man whose station was in the shell magazine of (memory, yoo-hoo...?) turret 62(??).
Lee knew the ship was in a lot of action but whenever he spoke about it, he shrugged and said, "My view was always the same. We didn't know what was going on."
The Greatest Generation, indeed.
Free Time Hobbies...preorder $138 ...Free Shipping. Anyone knows if it could be made waterline, without cutting it? TIA
It looks like it's as-built. I can see (hope that is) VeryFire releasing a late-war fit sometime down the road. Price is 138 bucks Canadian plus shipping (likely in the 50-60 dollar range).
With a Cleveland actually making an appearance can a 1/350 Baltimore be far behind? Baltimore anyone? VeryFire, Academy......anyone? Have given up on Trumpeter.
Yum!!! 1/350 Cleveland!
What year / fit is the kit?
Is the USA sale price available?
My monthly notification from HobbyLink Japan says that it will ship on/about Feb. 28/20 so I guess any time after that it will hit the shelves worldwide.
Any solid indication on when this kit will become available for actual ordering? Not pre-ordering!
