Re: CVN-81 to be named USS DORIS MILLER
I am aware of both of those ships, and I am also aware of the fact that neither is currently in the fleet.
Purely my opinion. of course, but three battles, Coral Sea, Midway, and Guadalcanal, first saved the United States in the Pacific, and then turned the ride. They were therefore the greatest battles of World War II, the ones where we risked the most and the stakes were highest. After Guadalcanal victory in the Pacific was only a matter of time, and the expenditure of treasure.
I am wondering when the Navy will get its brain out of where its butt should be and christen a carrier after the greatest (and longest) naval campaign waged by American Arms - Guadalcanal?
According to USNI News, Ford Class Carrier to be named USS DORIS MILLER, Pearl Harbor Hero.
