For Doug - 2 Versions Re: Model Re: P2-SE2-R1 ADMIRAL class drawings
Solent released two versions of this model in late November-early December. The two versions are unpainted decks (SOM-19) or painted decks (SOM-19a) (pricey!). The quality is very good. The unpainted deck version is rather hard to find right now but since this is a new casting I imagine production will catch up soon. Solent is carried by Wiedling, Antics and Chris Daley and possibly others.
I am glad that someone finally had the courage to produce this. It had been on the Neptun "to do" list for years which usually intimidates other producers from doing the subject. The Solent version is very nice indeed. I am glad they had the courage to forge ahead with this one. I have wanted a model of this for years since I spent four days on one in the early 1950's (NYC to Bremerhaven).
Thanks, Don. Did not know, looked through sammelhafen and did not see any, was surprised that no one had made one: and now they do! (though after the conversion version)
You do know that Solent has released a pretty nice model of the Admiral Class in 1:1250 scale, right? It is the renamed General Darby but IS an Admiral class model.
Here it is: https://www.1250ships.com/collections/solent/products/som-19-general-william-o-darby
I'm trying to scratch build a ship and am looking for drawings of the US P2-SE2-R1 ADMIRAL class
US Transports completed during WW2, especially overhead view. I can find the P2-S2-R2 GENERAL type all over the place, but they were a bit different. Even a book reference suggestion would help (I even bought America to United States Vol 1, but they show GENERAL and not ADMIRAL drawings.) Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
