Re: USS Maryland in dry dock 1941
The Description below the Wikipedia photo (ex-NARA) states that the vessel in the centre drydock is AG-16 USS UTAH (although it misidentifies MARYLAND!). She has a midships main armament position* (not fitted in WARSPITE) and the two aft main armament positions are on the same deck level.
* By this date her 12" guns had been removed
In the aerial photo of Puget sound, where USS Maryland is berthed alongside, there is another battleship in the dry dock.
I wonder if this might be HMS Warspite, there for repairs after damage during the Battle of Crete in May 1941?
