I know your history and is commendable, but tell me David ,how many years to finish?anyway, in this case, there is a gorgeous Knox Class(Orange Hobby) ,why not to use it, instead of using a Revell/Monogram Brooke Class and converting it to a Knox, this is too much trouble,in that case a full scratch build will be the best way to go,even the 1/700 AFV Knox is a good and cheap choice.
not a "waste" of effort as I intend to do the same just like I'm using Revell's 1/429 scale USS Arizona to do all the OBBs from Wyoming class to Colorado class. http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=165105
IMO will be a waist of effort ,the easiest way is the Orange Hobby Robert E Peary ,cost 101 USD in Hobby easy and is gorgeous.
The ISW Brooke 1/350 is a resin kit, and shows up for $140 at Freetime. He wants to convert to a Knox class. He can get an actual 1/350 resin Knox kit, but he does not like resin prices. I saw the Orange Hobby kit listed for roughly $200. So, he plans to get a plastic kit more cheaply, and convert. Massive task, but he seems up for it. I hope all goes smoothly, and he has an enjoyable build.
Wanted to but the Revell-Monogram USS Ramsy kit. Want to convert t Knox Class FF USS Rathburne, for a friend who served aboard her. Thanks.. Jhnjhudak@aol.com
