Re: I once saw a artist rendering of Bismark and Tirpitz in New York harbor, I wish i could find it agai
If you're interested in the real history, here's a link to a story about the Bund in New Jersey. They had some numbers, but fortunately not enough to have the chance to take over any significant part of the state, let alone the country.
Note that there are Nazi and Klan symbols pictured in the article.
That really is the stuff of nightmares. However, it is not so far fetched as I came across a Television Series which reported on the role of Nazism in pre-war U.S.A, and included an intelligence officer's interview of a German-American who had returned to Nazi Germany to fight on the Nazi side. In the interview he stated that his knowledge of the U.S. would assist in establishing a Nazi state (my synopsis). The Nazi soldier did not consider that the idea was far fetched. Food for thought.
Incidentally, there were scenes of a summer camp and activities which were a parallel of the Hitler Jugend. Essentially, Juvenile Americans being brain washed. Having studied/read the many aspects of both Wars, Treaties, et al., this came as something of a surprise. It does depend where one looks, of course. Food for thought.
