Google is made to tolerate a lot of severe spelling errors. It is designed by an US-based company, therefore it is probably designed to accept typical errors made by English speakers (it is also is getting better and better to accept errors made by German speakers).
In German, "Konig" does not exist. "Koenig" and "König" are alternative ways to write the same word. If Google does not understand a correct form, it does not work properly. I tested it - at least Google Translator has a severe buck. If I write "Konig" it proposes "König". "Koenig" it does not understand. Bad programming.
