Re: They already charge....
for the UK you do have to pay VAT on imports above certain value, and there is an £8 CHARGE TO COLLECT THE VAT
so far i have had to pay TWICE out of DOZENS OF IMPORTS! the thing that stops ME buying from the USA is not just the LEGITIMATE POST CHARGE BUT THE RIP OFF MASSIVE CHARGE FOR DEALER PROFIT.when the post fee for the same item varies by a factor of 5 SOME ONE IS NOT BEING FAIR!
The UK has a "Service Fee" to hold parcels while everyone else hits customers hard for VAT.
Meanwhile UK companies ship to the US with half the postage and no penalty. Been like this for several years. My UK and Australian business virtually vanished with the USPS increases and the domestic policies on levying VAT and charges.
Foreign post offices will not recognize US postage. They can charge your buyers for delivery.
If the US leaves the IPU, it would be bad news if you buy from overseas. The USPS will no longer recognize the foreign postage. This means that the USPS can charge postage for delivery.
