15 appears to be an LST so not 1940!
20 Cherbourg evacuation was after Dunkirk not part of it!
24 BB bombing the RN?
29 not 1941
37 posed shot!
several others the dates are suspect
19 2lb pompom was 40mm as for deadly they certainly distracted attacking a/c and IFF it hit was certainly deadly but using ring sights was not exactly radar controlled!
51 what colour to paint any ship on artic convoys, cheap white household paint applied by pouring! not recommended for your best highly detailed models! but accurate!!!
Here are some photo's to go through for interest/references etc. 80 images and many (if not all?) that people have seen before, but some of them are very good and I'll highlight a few with commentary:
19 - 2pdr pom-pom looks impressive and a good view of the shell link. What caliber was the 2pdr, looks at least 30mm?
25 - multiple pom-pom firing and by the hands-over-the-ears of one of the crew, incredibly noisy. Standard equipment on Commonwealth ships early but were they effective (deadly)?
28 - Nice view from the 20mm gunner's ventral gondola on a FW Condor.
33 - Colour (colourized?) well known photo of USS W V sunk and burning at Pearl Harbor. The image shows the battleship to be in MS 1 (surely?).
42 - Good detail shot of a British 4.1" open gun tub. I think it's 4.1' anyway.
46 - HMS Nelson's 406mm guns are outed. News to me but not surprising.
51 - An example of Nth Atlantic sea-ice build up.
65 - Another colour (colourized) image of a 40mm gun tub on USS Missouri early, for those who wish to compare blues. https://a.msn.com/r/2/AAGwOBY?m=en-au&referrerID=InAppShare&ocid=News
