Like you I thought the programme was a bit boring, but watched it too the end, and was surprised at the brief clip of a QE class in Loch Striven during the "Highball" tests. There's some more interesting info in this link which identifies the ship as HMS Malaya.

Edward,
I watched this last night, and was surprised to see what looked like a QE class ship used as the target. I haven't seen any film of the tests using Courbet though.

In a Channel 5 television program "Bismarck: Hitler's Greatest Warship" there was a short film sequence on High Ball testing The sequence showed HMS Malaya as the target. The only film I had seen previously showed Courbet as the target. R A Burt book notes Malaya was the target for training for attacks on Tirpitz by midget submarines. Were both Courbet and Malaya used in the test and has anybody got a source for Courbet camouflage whilst it was a subject of the tests.
