No expert me. Consider the weathering linoleum would be subject to. I'd expect it would grayout some. Also it appears to be a non standard color over the years looking quite brown in some instances and dark. Just a thought.
Was there ever a time during World War II that the Japanese Navy stopped using Linoleum for deck covering in the destroyers and cruisers, or had previously installed linoleum removed as a fire hazard?
It has become nearly an article of faith to have brown painted decks meant to simulate linoleum deck coverage on IJN destroyers and cruisers and I would have no thought of doing anything else, but still I wonder was it still in use as strategic materials became a real problem for Japan from 1943 onward.
